Like so many positive ventures, DefendWell.com was born from a very dark, negative event in our lives. My business partner and I had a very close friend that met an unfortunate and untimely end. This devoted husband and father of four was a victim of street violence. He was brutally beaten and murdered, leaving behind a loving family and group of friends. Of the many emotions we were feeling at this trying time, one was of protection. My partner and I decided that we would play a role in helping others be spared the loss we were enduring – helping people to be prepared to protect themselves.

There is nowhere in this world completely free of violence. It can literally happen any time and at any location. It is an unfortunate but inescapable truth that each and every one of us must take measures to prepare for a potential attack. We know you can't spend every moment of your life in perpetual fear, and we would never advocate such a life either. However, there are practices you can employ and self defense items you can arm yourself with to feel less anxious and stay safer.
